Welcome to my blog! I’m Ella from Fit Form Function Financial here to teach people about personal finance.

Being the only girl in a lower-middle class, multi-racial family, in a high cost of living area, money was never openly discussed as I was growing up. However, there were always signs that there never was enough and I could see from a young age the disparity between my peers and myself when it came to money. For a large part of my young life, my brothers and I were on the free/reduced lunch, there were times where there was only eggs and bread for dinner, and we got all of our clothing from thrift stores. We moved around constantly due to rising rent prices and any after school activity that involved money was a guaranteed “no”.

I worked really hard in high school and was told (like many others my age) that education = more money. So like any good daughter, I went to college for engineering and VERY much struggled to get that degree. I was lucky enough to have an internship that ended up landing me a job right out of college. Pretty good for a kid that didn’t have much growing up!

Several years later at the ripe old age of 28, I knew I couldn’t keep the same cycle of debt and living paycheck to paycheck as my parents had. Working the 9-5 life with no guarantee of a stable job was causing me so much stress and anxiety that I made the conscience decision to do something about it. I started learning about personal finance and I was hooked! I was so upset that no one in my life was discussing money and building wealth at all. It was then that I decided to be the change I hope to see in the world and to share the information that I’ve learned with as many people as I could!

On this blog, I want to share tips and tricks that I’ve battle tested myself. As well as, share my debt-free journey as I endure it. I’m hoping that this blog will help anyone who is feeling completely overwhelmed by their finances and want to make an active change to start bettering their money situation.
